Private Lessons
Private Lessons at Portland Pottery are an individualized lesson for people of all skill levels, with hands-on instruction from one of our talented teachers.

**Please note that all parties and private lessons are located at our Fox Street Studio (49 Fox Street, Portland, ME) not at our main studio (Washington Ave) unless otherwise discussed**
Private Lessons are a great introduction to throwing on the wheel, but can also be catered to focus on a particular skill if you’d like. Please let us know what you’d like to learn!
Private Lessons are available for 1, 2, or 3 people. If you’re looking to book something for a larger group, please see our Adult Parties or Kids Parties page.
Each participant can expect to make a minimum of two pieces, but you can make as many as you’d like. Portland Pottery will trim, glaze, and fire your work in a kiln and have it ready for pick up a few weeks after the lesson. Your pots will be food, dishwasher, and microwave safe. Please note that there is a possibility of a piece breaking during the firing process! We do everything we can to avoid this, but it is still possible. If this happens, we will offer you a piece made by one of our staff members.

$180 for a Private Lesson (1-3 people)
We require a 2-day heads up for booking Private Lessons.
Prices include instruction and all materials.

Picking Up Finished Work
We will email you when your pots are ready to be picked up. If you don’t hear from us, please check your spam folder and/or email foxstudio@portlandpottery.com.
Portland Pottery will hold your work for 6 months. Due to storage limitations, we will need to throw away any work that isn’t picked up after 6 months. So make sure you pick up your beautiful pieces after your party!!
For groups coming from out of town, we can ship the pottery to one location once it’s ready. The group would need to pay for the cost of shipping and handling, which we estimate to be $30 depending on the number and weight of the pieces.
Cancellation Policy
Full refunds are available for cancellations made more than 72 hours before the scheduled lesson or party. No refunds will be issued if cancellations or reschedule requests are made within 72 hours of the session. Additionally, no refunds will be issued for no-shows or if fewer participants attend than were originally registered.
